Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I started my career in Chicago working in data delivery in various roles – providing daily data solutions for Retailers and Advertisers in the early days of start-up companies. I then moved to Dallas to lead Category Management for a retail management organization and went back to Chicago to work in a variety of Product Development & Marketing roles (NIQ) and Data & Analytics leadership within Omnicom's agencies – Tracy-Locke, and most recently as the CDAO in the Omnicom Commerce Group.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

I believe in positivity and a solution-oriented mindset. We face challenges every day, and having a positive attitude and a focus on what can be done can help to better overcome obstacles and lead the team more effectively.

What is the greatest challenge CDAOs face today?

There are so many data/technology providers that keeping ahead of the latest and greatest across so many disciplines within our oversight can become overwhelming. We have our innovation cross-functional team that meets to discuss and keep a pulse on what's happening and the impact to the organization.

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CDAO?

Talk to the other disciplines as well as get a pulse from your team to understand what's working (or not) to develop your strategy and align resources and engagement requirements to meet the company's needs.

How do you measure success as a leader?

I measure success by the retention and engagement of my team members, as well as through our (OC) growth client opportunities and being labeled a leader in the commerce solutions ecosystem.

What is the value of being a member of the Evanta community?
