Roseann Chu is the Head of Digital Innovation & AI at Takeda, and she is responsible for driving strategies, experimentation, and research for key innovation priorities and mature the use of emerging capabilities and technologies for the manufacturing, supply, and quality business functions. Prior to joining Takeda, she spent over 15 years at American Express.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
During the early part of my career, I held many different finance roles from planning and forecasting to data analytics. I taught myself SQL, so I can pull data directly from the data warehouse and slice it many different ways. My ability to transform information into meaningful insights that enabled better decision-making and better customer experience led me down the data strategy / data management path.
A customer can be anyone (e.g. doctor, patient, employee, small business). Over the last several years, in addition to using data insights to improve customer experience, I also explore how new innovations in the artificial intelligence space can be leveraged. Evaluating digital technologies and strategizing how they can be used to transform current processes keeps the work exciting!
