In his current role, he is responsible for leading Madison Air’s overall human resource strategy, leadership development, and front-line obsession. Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I fell into an HR career. I grew-up in Green Bay, WI and happened to get an HR internship because I was a psychology major for a cheese company, of course. I started at Schreiber Foods as an intern and have had the privilege to work for some great companies during my career, including Coca-Cola Bottling, GE, Bank of America, Dunkin Brands, IDEX Corp, Starkey Hearing, and now Madison Air.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Focus your attention on the few things that will make the biggest impact.
What is the greatest challenge CHROs face today, and how are you addressing it?
Building a talent bench that can scale with the organization. It starts with providing visibility into the challenge and a shared ownership with the leadership team.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CHRO?
You got the role, be your authentic self!
How do you measure success as a leader?
At the end of the day, it comes down to delivering results. The great leaders not only meet commitments, but they develop talent and a great team and culture along the way.
