Béatrice Mabille is the Internal IT Vice President and CIO at Criteo, a global technology company (3,500+ employees in 25+ locations) in Commerce Media, the next wave of Digital Advertising.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
During my studies in engineering school, I chose to pursue a major in Information Technology as I wanted to have a transverse view on businesses while staying in a technical field. I started my career in 2001 as a consultant in Capgemini Consulting contributing to business transformation programs, and then I moved to Exalead in 2006, a software start-up company (now part of Dassault Systèmes) as Product Manager and Professional Services Manager.
After a short break for an expatriation experience in New York City with my family (husband and three children), I joined Alstom in 2013 to work on IT M&A. I had the chance to contribute to the acquisition of Alstom Energy by General Electric from the due diligence phase and to lead the separation of Alstom IT from the GE side.
In September 2018, I joined Criteo to lead the Internal IT department. I have been enjoying working with talented professionals from all over the world and leading the IT transformation to better enable our business transformation.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Transparency and trust are the values guiding my leadership style. I lead by empowering my teams, trusting them to deliver and achieve their objectives. Transparency is required to lead with authenticity (share what goes well, the challenges, and say when we don’t know), and it is what I expect from my team members in return (it goes hand-in-hand with the trust I give).
With disruption being a key theme of recent years, where do you see the CIO role going in the next 1-2 years?
Disruption has become the day-to-day of CIOs. CIOs have to deliver and constantly adapt the IT operating model, the skills and the IT & Information Security landscape to support the business in uncertain and fast evolving contexts. It is what makes IT so interesting and the CIO role so exciting, and it will be for many years to come.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out as a CIO?
My advice to any new CIO would be to ensure they can rely on talented teams they can trust and who will support them in achieving their mission. The CIO role is to be with the business as much as possible, and therefore, it is critical to have strong, empowered teams to allow the CIO to focus on leadership - planning, designing and delivering technology to drive business outcomes.
Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.
- I had my three children before the age of 30.
- I have a twin sister (non-identical though).
- I once had the opportunity to fly in a two-seat plane for an aerobatic flight, and I loved it!

In my role as an IT leader, it is key to stay connected to the IT ecosystem - informed on innovation - and to build fruitful relationships with our technology and service partners. Exchanging with peers is also key to share best practices and challenges, learn from others and discuss innovative ideas or critical issues to better work through them together.
