Bentley Curran is currently the VP of Digital Business and CIO at Brady Corporation, and he has been in this role since 2012.  He started at Brady in 1999 and has seen the growth through acquisitions and the transformations that followed. In his spare time, Bentley is active outdoors and enjoys golfing, hiking, and biking.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I started in engineering, fascinated by technology and its impact on people. Then, I transitioned to IT and developed through the stages to executive leadership. I am focused on delivering the business of IT.
 

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

Be an authentic servant leader.
 

What is the greatest challenge CIOs face today, and how are you addressing it?

It is challenging to transition through the rapid change in both leadership and technology.
 

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CIO?

Know the business you're in, how it works, why it is here, and its defining feature.
 

How do you measure success as a leader?

By my team that produces the value and outcomes needed to move our business forward.
