Christoph is the Chief Cyber Security Officer at Robert Bosch GmbH, overseeing global cybersecurity efforts for the company's infrastructure, products, and services. He also leads Bosch's AI governance, ensuring regulatory compliance, particularly with the European AI Act. Christoph has extensive experience in AI and cybersecurity, having previously worked at Deutsche Telekom and founded a secure mobile phone startup. He holds a Ph.D. in AI and has contributed to various high-level AI initiatives. A fun fact about Christoph, he loves sailing and winter, thus he is engaged in ice boat sailing.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

More than 20 years ago, I was hacked. This angered me so much that I systematically delved into security, eventually turning it into my profession. Key milestones on this path included collaborating with security researchers at Ben-Gurion University in Israel and my time as managing director of a Telekom startup that developed a secure phone based on a bare-metal hypervisor.

Technology innovation is to a wide degree people's business.
 

What is the greatest challenge you are facing today, and how are you addressing it?

The greatest challenge security leaders face today is balancing the ever-increasing complexity of the threat landscape with the relentless pressure to enable and support business.
 

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CISO?

Success in such a position requires strategic thinking, establishing situation pictures, effective communication, and coping with the complexities of the role. It's about blending vision with execution, inspiring teams, and building strong relationships in a constantly evolving business environment.
 

How do you measure success as a leader?

A leader's success can be measured by the achievement of organizational goals, the growth and development of their team, and the positive impact they have on the overall culture and performance of the organization.
