Sam Rego is a technology leader with cross industry experience at both a strategic and run level in IT. He has the ability to layer in security requirements to meet business needs and he works adaptively to ensure IT security is at the forefront of the plan, design, implementation, and run cycles. In addition, he always strives to empower his teams to do their best work in a collaborative and trusting environment.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I have been in the security field for a large portion of my career. With increasing cybersecurity threats, I have been taking on more and more of focus on security roles with lots of experience in the trenches.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Trust your team and empower people to succeed.
With disruption being a key theme of the past few years, where do you see your role as a CISO going in the next 1-2 years?
The pace of security threats will continue, and there will be pressure on how to keep up, including what innovative technologies will help soften the costs and resources requirements to secure data at rest, data in flight and data at use.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the role as a CISO?
Set your top four security and operational priorities, and work with the team feverishly to get them done.
