Bemi Anjous is the CISO at Noble Corporation, and a Governing Body Member of the Houston CISO Community. Bemi has 30+ years combined of oil and gas, energy, nuclear, refinery, chemical, pipeline, onshore and offshore experience, with additional experience in optimization and synergy; outsourcing management and shared services; digital transformation; IT / OT security strategy, compliance, and forecasting; and IT SOX and general controls and compliance. A key industry key achievement for Bemi is helping develop the DOE oil and gas maturity framework.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I started as a cyber programmer for offense and defense in the nuclear sector, then moved to risk management and audit. I finally moved to security where my past experience allows me to navigate both IT and OT by heading complex solutions ahead of the industries.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Be pragmatic, never say no, fearless and willing to make mistakes. Communication in listening first and talking as needed.
What is the greatest challenge CISOs face today, and how are you addressing it?
Culture change – by having constant communication and awareness with all type of end users in the company.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CISO?
Learn to develop and maintain relationships.
How do you measure success as a leader?
You measure based on performance of your direct reports and their personal view of oneself.
